Experienced Nursing Leader with a Strong Business Background and Expert in Lean Six Sigma and Leadership Development
For 25 years, I have been dedicated to nursing, primarily in the Emergency Department. Additionally, I've invested 16 years in the manufacturing sector, fostering my passion for Lean Six Sigma. My proficiency spans the various aspects of Lean Six Sigma and leadership within healthcare. I embrace both Servant and Transformational leadership styles, relishing the opportunity to nurture teams across the board. Beyond this, I prioritize nurturing and enhancing the brand, recognizing that success lies in meticulous attention to detail.
With extensive expertise in leadership development, I've guided numerous individuals and teams to reach their pinnacle performance. My methodology emphasizes practicality and result-driven strategies, employing Lean Six Sigma techniques to ensure measurable outcomes.
I am a positive, passionate, dynamic, and influential leader dedicated to process and quality improvement, as well as supporting the growth of new and emerging leaders. With a Doctor of Nursing Practice (DNP) and board certifications as an Advanced Practice Registered Nurse (APRN) Clinical Nurse Specialist (CNS), Nurse Executive Advanced, and Emergency Nurse, I bring a wealth of expertise to healthcare leadership.
My strong business background compliments my clinical expertise. From 2003 to 2019, I managed a manufacturing company while working as an RN. I guided the company through its initial ISO 9001 certification and multiple recertifications. I also have extensive experience in material management using the Kanban approach. This role honed my skills in reading balance sheets and income statements, balancing budgets, planning capital purchases, managing cash flow, and identifying and addressing waste—all of which translate well to the healthcare setting.
As a certified Lean Six Sigma Black Belt, I excel in operationalized process improvement and redesign. These skills drive patient safety, staff satisfaction, and improved outcomes in healthcare. I have a proven track record of enhancing nursing quality metrics and excel in fostering positive culture change.
Currently, I am the Vice President of Medical Operations and Quality at Buena Vista Health and Recovery, a four-campus, for-profit organization offering inpatient, residential, and outpatient services.
Previously, I served as the Director of Nursing at the internationally recognized Barrow Neurological Institute. I led two neuro ICUs (64 beds), three medical-surgical telemetry units (112 beds), an 11-suite neurosurgical OR, inpatient neuro rehab (45 beds), IOM/EEG, and outpatient services including GammaKnife, neuro infusion, radiation oncology, and MRI nursing. Under my leadership, these areas achieved significant improvements in NDNQI metrics, demonstrating my ability to support leaders and staff in achieving high performance.
Another A3 showing project completion for this process redesign.
